Veterans, Active-Duty Military, and Family members have a special opportunity to receive groceries on Tuesday, August 18, at Midwest Veterans Closet, at the organization’s Mobile Market distribution event.
Midwest Veterans Closet’s Mobile Markets provide special opportunities to supplement a veteran or military family with additional food assistance outside its regular offerings. These markets are able to be offered through a partnership with Northern Illinois Food Bank.
“Mobile Markets are a great way for our clients to get a significant amount of food assistance with selections that we may not offer day-to-day at Midwest Veterans Closet,” said Executive Director Steve Samuelson.
Distribution is done on a first-come, first-served basis at Midwest Veterans Closet, 1720 Green Bay Road, North Chicago, Illinois, for Mobile Markets. Those looking to receive groceries must only present a veteran, military, or dependent ID.
Local businesses, community organizations, and religious organizations are invited to download a flyer to publicize the event. “We love when community organizations want to help us spread the word about these events,” said Samuelson. “Please don’t hesistate to share our flyer on your favorite social media channels, as well!”
In addition to the Mobile Market, Veterans are encouraged to take advantage of the regular food assistance available once a week to veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families at Midwest Veterans Closet.
Those looking to contribute to the mission of Midwest Veterans Closet can do so by visiting MidwestVeteranscCloset.org/give.
